ABOUT THE ARTIST
Greetings,
I am Mark Lissick, an American that is very much a nomadic photographer/artist currently photographing in China. Better said, I am a philosophical artist utilizing the medium of photography. My work is founded on creativity, imagination, and self-expression. My intent is to create images that convey stories, emotions, and moods rather than being documentary in nature.
I am drawn to the wild areas of our natural world as they speak to my heart and soul. I strive, through my work, to be a voice for what the wilderness and creatures within can say to us.
As a self-taught, award-winning, international nature/wildlife photographer I have been chasing light for some 35+ years. (How time does fly) It has been a journey spanning 68 countries experiencing and capturing the infinite and diverse artistic beauty of our natural world.
My travels have taken me across mountain ranges, frozen tundra, deserts, field-terraced hills, glaciers, and rain forests. It has also afforded me the opportunity to work closely with a wide range of wildlife from polar bears to penguins.
It has instilled a global perspective influencing both myself and how I define my photography as an artistic medium. The result is a unique body of work that is visually strong and emotionally engaging.
I also enjoy giving back what I have learned of my craft and art. I have authored books and articles, and been a mentor and teacher via speaking engagements, workshops and photo adventure trips held worldwide.
