Amongst the Mangroves

     The Fujian region along China’s pacific coast is characterized by its mudflat coastal environment and home to a blend of mangrove farming and the raising of seaweed and kelp with the help of lines of long poles anchored in the mud. The graphic designs created by these industries are a popular location for landscape photographers. With the subdued flat light that washed out colors and to increase the contrast between the water surface and trees, I chose to shoot this scene in black and white of a farmer inspecting his mangrove seedlings using a drone to gain a better airborne perspective.
