Boundary Waters Morning Fog 2234

For those unfamiliar with the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness, it is a nature preserve in northern Minnesota next to the Canadian Border. It was formed during the last Ice Age as the glaciers retreated north producing a large number of pristine lake and coniferous forests. Today, it is haven for campers and canoes to help retain the unspoiled wilderness. No public motorized vehicles are allowed. Three days in from our port of entry, we had camped on an island to awake the next morning to fog and a glowing sunrise. We also woke to find that one of our party failed to tie up their canoe and it was gently flowing a short distance away. Before we sent the negligent person wading in the near freezing waters to retrieve the canoe, I got in a chance for some unexpected photography. I never turn down an opportunity to work with what nature provides.
