Morning Fog Rural Landscape

I grew up in America’s Midwest where the rural and farmland areas were dominated by open spaces. So open that there was always a feeling of vast emptiness when on location. As I sat in the openness all that could be heard were the sounds of wildlife and the wind moving through the tall grasses and dry corn stalks (rather musical if you truly listened). The sounds gave life to the vast, empty space and was what I could actually feel.
The image was taken in southwestern Minnesota. It is a land transitioning between rolling hills covered in deciduous trees to flatter and more treeless prairie. It is a panoramic that captures the vast openness and emptiness of the space and one of the reasons I included so much sky. What made the image for me was the presence of fog. For me, fog creates a scene that suggests rather than one that tells as the amount of detail is reduced. A feeling of mystery is added in addition to a bit of artistry.
