Mount Fuji Red Dawn Reflection

     This is a minimalist image of one of the lake areas near Japan’s Mount Fuji. It is a simple composition centered around the geometric shape of the mountain surrounded by a large amount of negative space (sky and lake reflection). Minimalism was enhanced with a limited color palette and using just two other design elements of the fishing boat and sunburst. The image was underexposed to place the mountain in a partial silhouette which reduced distracting details and helped establish the mood. My goal was to emphasize the natural beauty of the scene in more of a stylized representation rather than realistic detail. My imagination interpreted the scene from an artistic perspective rather than a simple snapshot documentation.
