Winter Forest

     It was a time when the seasons of Autumn and Winter overlapped. Snow lay on the ground while autumn leaves still clung to a few tree branches. The sky was heavily overcast turning most of the Czechian forest landscape into shades of grey. Amid the closely growing trees, I came across a single splash of color that stood out against a backdrop of whites and greys. A single branch of golden leaves hung across my view. With all the trees growing so close, their detail made it difficult for the branch of golden leaves to stand out against the background. This image is the product of two separate images. One was of the background trees slightly overexposed and with intentional camera movement (ICM). The other was of the leaf-bearing branch using a shallow DOF. Parts of both were then layered together during processing. The result was an image where the autumn leaves stood out in sharp contrast to the faded background forest of shapes.
